Vaishnavi had arrived at the office much earlier than usual that morning. She kept walking around her cabin, checking her watch every few minutes. Ten minutes remained before nine-thirty. She walked three more rounds and checked again. There are still eight minutes left.
"Why is today taking so long?"
She finally sat down, trying to control her growing impatience. There was something almost childlike about her excitement today. Her grandson had finally agreed to meet the girl she had chosen, and she had complete faith in her choice.
A faint smile appeared on her face. She was certain Kanak was exactly the kind of girl Rajveer needed, even if he did not know it yet. For once, Vaishnavi was looking forward to seeing how the meeting would go.
The cabin door suddenly opened.
"Good morning, Ma'am."
Vaishnavi's smile immediately widened. She looked up and found Kanak standing there with a polite smile. Kanak walked inside, placed her things neatly, and began arranging the files needed for the day's schedule.
"Good morning, Kanak."
Kanak nodded and started checking everything carefully. She was twenty-five, with sharp features and expressive eyes that naturally held attention. She was not someone who needed heavy makeup or dramatic beauty to stand out. There was something quietly graceful about her.
Vaishnavi watched her for a few moments without interrupting. Even the simple way Kanak pushed her hair back from her face had a certain elegance. She then lowered her gaze towards the files and asked her casually.
"When will Kashi finish her graduation?"
Kanak looked up from the schedule and smiled softly.
"She still has four months left, Ma'am. Although she has already started preparing because she is determined to go to a university in London. We are all working on the arrangements."
Vaishnavi nodded, then looked at another file.
"Did Kashi's education loan get approved?"
Kanak's smile became slightly wider.
"Yes, Ma'am. You spoke to the bank, so everything was processed very smoothly. Her student loan has been approved."
Vaishnavi smiled with satisfaction and leaned back comfortably in her chair. She had known about Kashi's plans for some time, and knowing everything was finally falling into place seemed to make her happy. Kanak opened the main schedule and placed it in front of Vaishnavi.
"You have two meetings today, Ma'am. After that, there is a factory visit. Everything else has already been arranged according to your usual schedule."
Vaishnavi listened quietly, but Kanak suddenly stopped and looked at her properly. There was concern in her expression as she noticed the tiredness around Vaishnavi's eyes.
"Ma'am, are you feeling all right? Did you take your medicines on time today?"
Vaishnavi smiled at her question and shook her head.
"Do you really think I can get away from my medicines when I have you and Rajveer watching me?"
Kanak smiled softly.
"Then why do you keep neglecting yourself, Ma'am?"
Vaishnavi gave her an amused look before reaching for the schedule again.
"Do not keep any appointments for me for the next three days."
Kanak immediately looked up.
"Why, Ma'am? Is there some problem? Are you feeling unwell? Should I arrange a doctor's appointment?"
Vaishnavi shook her head, amused by how quickly Kanak's concern appeared.
"No, you do not need to worry. I am perfectly fine. It has simply been too long since I visited my village, and I thought I would spend a few days there before coming back."
Kanak studied her face for a moment before nodding. She checked the schedule again and quickly turned a few pages.
"I had not scheduled anything for those days anyway, Ma'am. Your meetings are usually decided a day in advance, so you do not have to worry. I will keep the next three days completely free."
Vaishnavi smiled.
"So, for the next three days, the office will be completely in your hands."
Kanak smiled back.
"Do not worry, Ma'am. Go peacefully and enjoy your visit. I will manage everything here with our staff."
Vaishnavi looked at her for a moment before casually adding another detail.
"Rajveer will handle things while I am away."
Kanak's hand stopped over the file for a second. She knew exactly who Rajveer Rajawat was. Vaishnavi's eldest grandson had already been running his own business for years, so the idea of him coming here surprised her slightly. Still, she did not question it. Vaishnavi continued calmly.
"He will manage the office for three days, and you will help him with everything. I do not want him facing any problems while he is here. Stay in this cabin whenever he is working because he is extremely impatient."
Kanak gave a small nod.
"I understand, Ma'am."
"He can scold people over the smallest things, so you will have to tolerate him a little. That is simply how he is."
Kanak smiled politely.
"Do not worry, Ma'am. If Sir is coming here, we will handle everything properly."
Vaishnavi smiled at her response, then leaned back in her chair with an unmistakable softness in her expression.
"Rajveer is my life, Kanak. That boy means everything to me."
Kanak listened quietly, allowing Vaishnavi to continue.
"Sometimes I think I love him even more than I love my own son. I have watched him grow into the man he is today, and I am incredibly proud of him."
There was no hidden meaning in Vaishnavi's words. She spoke about Rajveer with the simple pride of a grandmother who had spent years watching her grandson grow, succeed, and build a life of his own.
"He has been managing his own business very efficiently for the last six years. Before that, he worked with me here. I did not get to see him much after he started handling everything himself, but he has always been extremely capable."
Kanak nodded while listening, her expression polite and attentive.
"Honestly, he is more efficient than my son in many things. He calculates everything before making a decision, never takes unnecessary risks, and somehow always knows exactly what he wants."
Kanak gave another small nod.
"Rajveer has met Keshav many times, so you can ask your father about him sometime. He will probably have plenty to say about what kind of man Rajveer is."
Kanak smiled faintly at that.
"Yes, he praises him a lot, Ma'am."
Vaishnavi smiled and closed the file in front of her.
"Good. And do not worry about these three days. Just make sure everything he needs is available. The rest will take care of itself."
Kanak nodded again, completely unaware of how much her ordinary morning was about to change. For Vaishnavi, however, the day had already become special, because for the first time, she was bringing two very different lives close to the same room.
.
.
Rajveer stopped his car in front of the building and slowly removed his black shades. He looked at the familiar structure for a moment. He had been here countless times, yet today, something about entering the building felt strangely different to him.
He frowned slightly at himself and took a quiet breath before murmuring under his breath, trying to dismiss the hesitation that had appeared without warning. There was nothing here he could not handle. He had dealt with far more difficult situations before.
“Come on, Rajveer. There is nothing here you cannot handle.”
He put his shades away and walked toward the private parking area without wasting another second. From there, he entered the private elevator reserved for the family. The doors closed, and within moments, he was moving toward Vaishnavi's cabin.
Inside the cabin, Vaishnavi already knew who was coming the moment the elevator indicator blinked. A soft smile appeared on her face because very few people had access to that elevator, and she knew exactly who could be behind it.
Kanak noticed the sound as well, but she continued checking the schedule in her hands. She knew that only a few people close to Vaishnavi could enter through that elevator, so she simply assumed someone from the family was arriving.
“I will prepare your remaining schedule, ma'am.”
Vaishnavi immediately looked at her and shook her head, her smile growing slightly wider. She wanted Kanak to stay because Rajveer was about to arrive, and she had already decided that today would be different from their usual routine.
“No, you stay here. Rajveer is coming, and he will be handling things with us for the next three days. We are also visiting the factory today, so it will be easier if you are with us.”
Kanak paused and looked at her schedule again, quietly going through the day's appointments. She knew Vaishnavi visited the factory regularly, but Rajveer usually handled his own business and rarely involved himself in these responsibilities.
“For the next three days, he needs to understand everything I handle here. He comes occasionally to check a few files, but he has never properly focused on the factory or the other work. Now he needs to learn it properly.”
Kanak gave a small nod and returned her attention to the schedule. She did not question the decision because Vaishnavi had already made up her mind. A soft sound from the elevator suddenly filled the cabin, making Vaishnavi's smile return instantly.
The elevator doors opened directly into the cabin. Rajveer stepped out, adjusting his watch as he walked forward, but his eyes did not immediately find his grandmother. Instead, they stopped on the woman standing beside her desk.
Kanak was still looking down at her notepad, completely absorbed in whatever she was writing. She seemed unaware of his arrival, finishing her notes carefully before closing the page. Her attention remained entirely on her work.
Vaishnavi noticed him first and immediately opened her arms with an affectionate smile. Her voice carried across the cabin, finally drawing Kanak's attention away from her notepad.
“Here is my grandson.”
Kanak heard the warmth in Vaishnavi's voice and turned toward them. The moment she lifted her eyes, she found Rajveer already looking directly at her. She paused for barely a second before offering him a polite, professional smile.
“Good morning, sir.”
For the first time, Rajveer truly heard her voice. He had probably heard her greet him before, perhaps countless times, but he had never paid enough attention to notice it. Today, however, the simple greeting seemed strangely clear to him.
His eyes remained on her face as he took in the details he had somehow overlooked all these years. Her sharp features, calm expression, and steady eyes caught his attention before a simple thought crossed his mind without warning.
She is beautiful.
The thought came so naturally that he almost frowned at himself.
Perhaps this was why Sweetheart had chosen her.
Vaishnavi was speaking beside them, but Rajveer barely registered a word. His attention remained fixed on Kanak as she listened to his grandmother and answered her calmly, completely unaware of the thoughts running through his mind.
Then another thought entered his mind, sharp and immediate, pushing away the first one. He watched her beautiful face for another moment before his expression slowly hardened, and his mind supplied an answer he did not want to question.
Perhaps this kind of beauty was exactly what people used to deceive others.
