DEADLY VOWS

Darkness surrounds her from all sides, and it terrifies her deeply. She has no idea what to do or what not to do. Out of sheer fear, her trembling hand instinctively moves to her abdomen, and a wave of confusion crashes over her. She feels completely lost, unable to make sense of the moment or her thoughts. An unknown, overwhelming fear begins to take control of her, making it harder to even breathe properly. Panicked, she starts backing away slowly, her body trembling with every step. But suddenly, her eyes freeze, wide open, unmoving. Something shifts in the air. A subtle yet distinct fragrance begins to fill the space around her, slowly enveloping her senses. Her hands begin to tremble even more, and they hesitantly rise, moving toward her lips as if seeking comfort or grounding in the moment of fear. But just before she can react further, he appears behind her. Gently yet firmly, he wraps his arms around her from behind, pulling her close. He carefully places both of her hands over her belly, hands covering hers, and slowly begins to caress her stomach with a tenderness that contrasts the fear in her mind. His voice, low and filled with a strange mix of emotion and control, reaches her ears. “Don’t do this, Jaan…” For a moment, it’s as if her breath stops, completely arrested by his touch, his presence, and his voice. He brushes her hair aside with slow fingers and places a soft kiss on her neck, sending chills down her spine. Then he speaks again, his voice playful yet laced with emotion. “It’s been so many days since you last confessed your love to me. Come on, hurry up and say it; tell me that you love me.” She’s still terrified, her heart pounding with panic and confusion. Despite her fear, or perhaps because of it, she responds without hesitation, her voice trembling and her words sharp. “I hate you…” Her words hang in the air, heavy with meaning. But beneath the lies something deeper, something she herself is too afraid to admit. And maybe, just maybe, he knows that too.
